About MVP

Marques Vance Pedescleaux (CoachMVP) was born in Vallejo, California on February 27th, 1985. Of the four children his parents had, Marques was the only boy and was given the initials MVP not for hopes of any future athletic ability, but rather how they desired God to use him one day.

At the age of 11, Marques became a Christian and at the age of 15, he was given a license to preach from the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Suisun California after preaching his trial sermon. Marques went on to become an Assistant Youth Pastor at Friendship West Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.

While involved in ministry, Marques had a incredible passion for the game of baseball and football.

A standout for many years, Marques played baseball up until his sophomore year in high school only to transition into the game of football.  During the very first game of the preseason he tragically broke his leg. This injury required emergency surgery by inserting a titanium rod into his leg which ended his hope of starting that year.

After rehabilitation and discovering that he was no longer had a passion to return to the field, Marques decided to turn his attention to his studies.

During the spring of 2003, Marques was accepted to three historical black college / universities, and chose to attend Morehouse College in the fall of 2003.

In addition to his on-campus leadership roles, Marques served as ‘blend master’ at Smoothie King and soon became a manager of two store locations in the Dekalb / Rockdale County area. He also had the privilege of serving as an Assistant Manager at GameStop.

During the summer of 2006, Marques was accepted into the Focus on the Family Summer Institute (now named Focus Leadership Institute). While at the Institute, Marques was enrolled in several classes focusing on Christian and Non-Christian worldviews, marriage, and parenting.

After facing a series of economic challenges, some of which caused him to postpone his degree work in Psychology, Marques decided to press on and pursue a lifelong goal of mentoring young men. Using his experience as a manager, ministry intern, and college student leader, Marques was invited to speak at Southwest Dekalb High School for a student work study banquet.

That experience served as a major catalyst for him and ignited a passion to pursue a career as a life coach. In the summer of 2009, Marques became a licensed life coach from the Life Coaching Institute, founded by Dr. Shad Helmstetter.

Marques believes that all of his experiences have made him into the man he will continue to become. He looks forward to creating new experiences that will shape his future.
